Multiple linear regression test with SPSS program. This multiple regression article is a continuation of the previous article on “Learn SPSS Together“. On this occasion we will explain step by step multiple regression testing. Multiple regression is used to test the causal relationship between independent variables to the dependent variable (independent variables more than one and the dependent variable only one). Let’s look at the example case to be done:

Independent Variable:

Motivation (X1)

Satisfaction (X2)

Dependent variable:

Loyalty (Y)

Hypothesis to be tested:

H1: motivation variable significantly partially influence to loyalty

H2: satisfaction variable has a significant effect partially on loyalty

H3: motivation and satisfaction variables significantly influence loyalty simultaneously

Note:

1 each variable using questionnaire with likert scale

2 each variable consists of 10 questions

3 data to be tested using regression is the total score of each question item

Testing criteria:

H1 is accepted if the value of Sig. <0.05

H2 is accepted if the value of Sig. <0.05

H3 accepted if the value of Sig. <0.05

Based on the above explanation, it will be tested multiple linear regression with spss follow the following steps:

* First*, the data to be tested.

* Second*, select menu analyze -> Regression -> linear

After that will appear new window

* Third*, move the loyalty variable to the dependent box, then move the motivation and satisfaction variable to the independent box (s) using the button

So it becomes like the following picture:

The next step is click **OK**, it will appear SPSS output as follows:

* Fourth*, the interpretation of output

**Testing of the hypothesis (H1)**

Based on partial test results (table coefficients), the value of T is 2.561 and the value of Sig. 0,016 (p <0,05) so that hypothesis (H1) accepted, its meaning is: motivation variable significantly partially influence to loyalty

**Testing of the hypothesis (H2)**

Based on partial test results (table coefficients), the value of T is 2.613 and the value of Sig. 0,015 (p <0,05) so that hypothesis (H2) accepted, its meaning is: satisfaction variable significantly partially influence to loyalty

**Testing of the hypothesis (H3)**

Based on simultaneous test results (anova table), it is known that F value is 8,175 and Sig value. 0,002 (p <0,05) so that hypothesis (H3) accepted, its meaning is: motivation and satisfaction variables significantly influence loyalty simultaneously.
